Five ways to boost your mood

You are a bad mother, yes you. Don’t you find that you are grumpy and miserable when you don’t care of yourself? You need to look after you in order to be good to anyone else. Even on flights, they tell you to put the oxygen mask on yourself before you do for your child. Because how can you help/take care of your baby if you aren’t breathing? I know it is our instincts to rush and take care of our babies.

Remember you need to be well to do all that you do, take a moment for yourself. When you are burnt out, your energy affects that of your baby. So no, taking care of yourself doesn’t make you a bad mother. There is this notion that if you are always looking good that means you neglect your children. I don’t think, when you feel your best- it makes you that much better.

These are some of the things I do to make myself feel better.

  • Work out, even if its only 15minutes/going for walks with baby
  • Put on makeup
  • Dress up, in real clothes- not pajamas/workout clothes
  • Medicure/pedicure ( at home, aint o body got time/money for salons)
  • Having fresh flowers in the house
These flowers were $5

Whatever it is that makes you feel good, do it. These are someof the things that help me push through.I don’t get to do these everyday, but I try to do one or two of the above once a week. You will be amazed at how well you will feel. Especially the stay at home mamas, you are doing the greatest job of all. Please do take care of yourselves.

My all time favorite is cleaning the kitchen, there is something about a clean kitchen that makes me feel like a million dollars.
